By advancing the uptake, consistency and quality of non-financial reporting; convening the sector to align and accelerate contributions to the SDGs; and promoting socially and environmentally responsible supply chains, Ipieca helps integrate sustainability considerations into decision-making and strategies.

Ipieca also acts as the industry’s principal channel of communication with the United Nations and engages with a range of UN bodies across its work programme to increase understanding and provide timely information to members and key stakeholders on global sustainability issues.

Ipieca represents the industry at external events to put forward a balanced view of the way the energy industry is transitioning, and how efforts to mitigate ESG issues are strongly incorporated into companies' operations and planning.
